Biography

Born in Ballarat, Thomas James McGuire was a single 37 year old labourer at the time of his enlistment in Melbourne, Victoria on the 25th of May 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A64 Demosthenes on the 16th of July 1915.
On he 5th of August 1916, Thomas was evacuated to England, wounded. He returned to Australia on the 24th of September 1917, and was discharged on the 22nd of November 1917 as medically unfit due to a gunshot wound in his left hand.
Thomas re-enlisted on the 3rd of July 1918 at the A.I.F Headquarters in London, England.
He returned to Australia on the 1st of February 1919, and was discharged as medically unfit on the 15th of February 1919.
