Joseph Michael Kennedy (SN 3799) a 21 year old hairdresser, enlisted in Melbourne on July 17th 1915. On November 23rd he embarked aboard the Ceramic and sailed to Egypt where he was assigned to the 46th Infantry Battalion. Soon after arriving there, he was hospitalised with bronchitis, but his health continued to decline and he was returned to Australia on the Kanowna and was discharged ‘medically unfit, asthenia and tuberculosis’ on July 27th 1916.
