Biography

Conrad George Easton (SN 2398) born in Melbourne, was a 24 year old clerk when he enlisted in Sydney on June 1st 1915. He embarked aboard the Orsova on July 14th and in October he reached Gallipoli where he served through the last two months of that campaign with the 2nd Infantry Battalion. After Gallipoli he was transferred to the 13th Battalion for service on the Western Front. He was wounded on three occasions but fortunately the wounds were slight. He also had a protracted illness. He was returned to Australia aboard the Kenilworth Castle then the Field Marshall from Durban, disembarked at Melbourne on May 22nd 1918 and was discharged in Sydney on June 22nd ‘medically unfit, chronic bronchitis’. He also enlisted to serve during WW2 with service number N73057.
