Biography

An auctioneer by trade, Daniel James Hoban was 34 years old when he enlisted on the 11th of June 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A23 Suffolk on the 1st of April 1916. On the 22nd of February 1916 he was promoted to Second Lieutenant.
On the 26th of July 1916, Daniel was wounded in action; he was invalided to the U.K and admitted to hospital with gunshot wound to both legs on the 28th of July 1916.
Daniel's appointment was terminated on the 25th of May 1917 due to the amputation of his right leg.
