Biography

Jack Gross (SN 4205) was born in Ballarat and attended the Mt. Pleasant State School. He was 18 years old, single, and a draper's assistant when he enlisted on June 15th 1915. He joined the 14th Infantry Battalion and embarked from Melbourne in late December aboard the Demosthenes. He was killed in action on April 11th 1917 near Bullecourt. He has no known grave and his name is recorded on the Australian Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux, in France.
