Biography

Cyril Bryant (SN 148) born in Ballarat, was a 24 year old motor trimmer when he enlisted at Queenscliff on August 18th 1914. Assigned to the 8th Infantry Battalion he embarked aboard the Benalla on October 19th and sailed to Egypt before taking part in the Gallipoli landing of April 25th 1915. A knee complaint forced his evacuation to Malta in September then further health issues forced him to hospital in England. Enteric fever and chronic gastritis led to him being assessed as fit only for home service and he was returned to Australia aboard the Euripides. He reached Melbourne on August 5th 1916 and was discharged on February 5th 1917.
