Biography

Charles Walker was born in Stawell, but enlisted as a labourer in Fitzroy on 29th January 1643. He was married and 45 years of age. He was posted to the 22nd Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 1643. During his service he was promoted to Lance Corporal. On 10th August 1916 he died of wounds inflicted at Mouquet Farm, and is buried in St Sever Communal Cemetery, Rouen, France.
