John Clark (SN 1780) born in Glasgow, Scotland, was a 33 year old labourer when he enlisted at Seymour on June 25th 1915. He embarked aboard the Demosthenes on July 16th and from August to October he saw action at Gallipoli with the 21st Infantry Battalion. Illnesses including cystitis and varicose veins forced his evacuation from Gallipoli and the decision that he was no longer fit for active service. He returned to Australia aboard the Seang Choon, disembarked at Melbourne on August 18th 1916 and was discharged medically unfit on November 28th.
