Biography

George Colin Buchanan (SN 2463) was born in Ballarat but educated at Scotch College in Melbourne. He was a 19-year-old university student when he enlisted at Ballarat on June 25th 1915. He sailed from Australia in August aboard the Persia to serve with the 46th Infantry battalion. He was killed in action during the First Battle of Bullecourt on April 11th 1917. He was 21 years of age, has no known grave, and his name is recorded on the Australian Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux, France.
