Biography

Born in Ballarat, Victoria and a Bootmaker by trade, Arthur Copperwaite enlisted on the 1st of July 1915 in the 14th Battalion, 13th Reinforcement, Australian Imperial Force, with the rank of Private, Number 4160, and was listed as returned to Australia on the 10th of April 1919. His Unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A64 'Demosthenes' on the 29th of December 1915. Private promoted Corporal on the 12th of April 1917; Corporal appointed Lance Sergeant on the 20th of May 1917; admitted to Hospital sick on the 16th of August 1917; Lance Sergeant promoted Sergeant Vice on the 1st of October 1917. Returned to Australia per 'Medic' on the 10th of April 1919. Discharged on the 23rd of July 1919. Tree No. 774
