Biography

Frederick Ernest Hillman was born in and enlisted from Ballarat on 19th April 1915. He was 20 years old, unmarried and a blacksmith. He was appointed to the 23rd Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 1010. Later he was promoted Lance Corporal. On 190th June 1916 he was killed during the fighting at Armentieres, and buried at Desplanque Farm Cemetery, France.
