Biography

Robert Edgar Harvey was born in Bendigo and was a Baker by trade when he enlisted in the 21st Battalion, 12th Reinforcement on 19 July 1915 at the age of 27. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A14 Euripides on 4 April 1916 and served with the 21st Battalion in France until illness forced his evacuation to hospital in England. Once fit for active service he was transferred to the 65th Battalion and returned to France but lasted only a month before being returned to England. He returned to Australia, reaching Melbourne on January 3rd 1918, and was discharged as æmedically unfit – debility'.
