John A.E. Woodhead was a single 25 year old salesman when he enlisted on the 5th of July 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A16 Star Of Victoria on the 10th of September 1915. On the 21st of March 1918 he was appointed Acting Corporal. John returned to Australia on the 22nd of May 1919 and was discharged as medically unfit on the 3rd of August 1919.
