Biography

Andrew Taylor was born in Ballarat and was a Miner by trade when he enlisted in the 14th Battalion, 12th Reinforcement on 7 July 1915 at the age of 37. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A40 Ceramic on 23 November 1915. While in Egypt he was attached to the 46th Battalion, then in June 1916 he was moved to France. On February 12th 1917 he was wounded in action when he sustained a slight gunshot wound to his face. In December of that year he was transferred to the Australian Infantry Base Depot. After the war he returned to Australia on the Nevasa and disembarked at Melbourne on Anzac Day 1919.
