Biography

John Leslie Robson was born in Brunswick, Victoria, was single and a Glazier living in Ballarat when he enlisted in the 6th Battalion, 11th Reinforcement on 7 July 1915 at the age of 22. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A71 Nestor on 11 October 1915. In late 1916 he suffered from gonorrhoea which kept him hospitalised. After his release he proceeded overseas to France as a Driver. Aside from two instances of being absent without leave for 1 day his records show he completed his tour without further incident, illness or injury, returning to Australia aboard the Beltana on 19 July 1919.
