Born in Lancashire, England, John Madeley was a single 22 year old labourer at the time of his enlistment in Ballarat on the 22nd of July 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A40 Ceramic on the 23rd of November 1915.
John was discharged in London, England on the 6th of May 1919 due to being demobilised.
