Biography

Harry Borlase Clark (SN 3270) was born in Sebastopol and attended the Sebastopol State School. He was 19 years old, single and a carpenter, when he enlisted on July 8th 1915. He trained at Geelong and Broadmeadows before embarking aboard the Nestor in October and joining the 14th Battalion in Egypt. He reached France in June 1916 and appears to have avoided injury or illness before he was granted leave in the United Kingdom from late August 1918. He rejoined his unit in France on September 14th but was seriously wounded just four days later. He was evacuated to the 5th General Hospital at Rouen but sadly died of his wounds on October 7th 1918. He was 22 years of age and is buried in St Sever Cemetery, Rouen, France.
