Francis (Frank) Joseph O'Callaghan (SN 3404) was born in Warracknabeal, but enlisted in Ballarat on July 8th 1915. He was 20 years old, unmarried and a moulder. He joined the 8th Infantry Battalion and embarked in November. Later he was transferred to 11th Machine Gun Company. He was killed on September 29th 1917 in the Polygon Wood area, and is buried in the Poperinghe New Military Cemetery, France.
