Edwin Joseph Cannon enlisted in the 6th Infantry Battalion on 8 July 1915 with Regimental No. 3701. He was a student at the Ballarat Technical School of Art. He was born in Ballarat, and was single and 20 years old. He was seriously wounded in action near Ypres in Belgium, and died whilst being treated at the 17th Casualty Clearing Station on 14th September, 1916. He is buried at Lijessenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium
