Biography

Edwin Joseph Cannon (SN 3701) from Ascot Street in Ballarat, attended the Ballarat Technical School and was a student at the School of Mines when he enlisted on July 8th 1915. He embarked aboard the Ceramic on November 23rd and on arrival in Egypt he joined the 6th Battalion. He moved on to France in April 1916 but on September 13th he received a severe gunshot wound to his abdomen and died of his wounds the following day. He was 21 years of age and is buried in the Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium.
