Biography

Born in Ballarat, Grenville and a Miner by Trade, Leslie Joseph Calvert was 25 years and single when enlisted on the 8th of July 1915 in the 6th Battalion, 11th Reinforcement, Australian Imperial Force, with the rank of Private, Number 3260. On the 27th of March 1916 admitted to 14th Field Ambulance Cardiac Neurasthenia; on the 1st of February 1917 admitted to War Hospital – Trench Feet; on the 9th of May 1917 admitted 1st A.D.H., Bulford, V. D. Marched out to No. 2 Com Depot, Weymouth. Embarked for return to Australia per 'Berrima' on the 31st of October 1917 and disembarked on the 30th of December 1917. Discharged from the A.I.F. at Melbourne – medically unfit – disability – Phthisis on the 4th of February 1918. Tree No. 866
