Joseph James Lugg was born in Ballarat East, but was a gardener in Little Bendigo when he enlisted on 18th August 1914. He was 26 years old, and single. He joined the 8th Infantry Battalion with Regimental No. 302. On 6tn August 1915 he was killed at Lone Pine, and is buried at Ari Burnu Cemetery, Gallipoli, Turkey.
