Arthur William Smith enlisted in Ballarat, Victoria at the age of 18 on the 9th of July 1915. He had been born in Ballarat, Victoria, was single, and was employed as a Ironmonger. He volunteered and was stationed with the 14th Battalion, 13th Reinforcement with the Regimental number 4309 . He was Killed in Action in France and was buried at the Bellicourt Cemetery (Plot III, Row M, Grave number 9), on the 8th of September 1918. Tree number 882.
