Biography

Owen William Eason (SN 4184) was born at Winter's Flat and attended the Scotsburn State School. He was a 21 year old farmer at the time of his enlistment on July 9th 1915. He left Melbourne in December with the 14th Battalion on board the Demosthenes. He spent some time in hospital in Egypt suffering from deafness before reaching France in June. On August 29th 1916, the 23 year old was killed in the fighting at Mouquet Farm. He has no known grave, and his name is recorded on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
