Biography

Stanley Alexander Heathcote (SN 2377) was born in Ballarat and attended the Urquhart Street State School. At the time of his enlistment on July 10th 1915 he was 22 years old, single, and employed as a maltster. He was posted to the 24th Infantry Battalion and embarked for the battlefields in late September on board the Osterley. He was killed in action on October 9th 1917. He has no known grave and his name is recorded on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium.
