Biography

Frank O'Sullivan (SN 1594) was born at Mt Clear and educated at the Mt Clear State School. The 22 year old labourer enlisted at Ballarat on December 1st 1914 and embarked for Gallipoli with the 5th Battalion on board the Runic. He came through the Gallipoli campaign unscathed, after which he was transferred to France with the 15th Light Trench Mortar Battery and promoted to Corporal. He was killed during an artillery bombardment in the trenches in the Somme area on November 22nd 1916. His name is recorded on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
