Private Jack Harrison, an English-born farmer, enlisted in the 8th Infantry battalion 18 August 1914 at the age of 20. He embarked to Gallipoli on 21 October 1914 and later received a temporary promotion to Sergeant Cook (Acting) on 5 April 1915. He later reverted to his previous rank upon his own request.
He received his final discharge from service on 5 October 1919.
