William Kenneth Moss (SN 4259) born at Melbourne, was a 25 year old art teacher when he enlisted in Ballarat on August 2nd 1915. Assigned to the 6th Infantry Battalion, he embarked aboard the Demosthenes on December 29th and sailed to Egypt. In April 1916 he joined his unit in France. He avoided battle wounds, but his service was interrupted by bouts of pyrexia and pneumonia. He returned to Australia aboard the Soudan, disembarked at Melbourne on June 29th 1919 and was discharged on August 21st.
Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as Kenneth Moss.
