Ln Corporal Ronald Page Orr, a Ballarat-born Clerk, enlisted in the 8th Infantry Battalion on 18 August 1914 at the age of 19. He was wounded in action, having received a shrapnel wound to the right thigh on 25 April 1915 and was hospitalized. After re-joining his battalion in France, Orr received a severe gunshot wound to the shoulder and right arm, resulting in a transfer to England for treatment. He later received a medical discharge on 16 November 1917.
