Ronald Page Orr (SN 330) born in Ballarat, was a 19 year old clerk when he enlisted on August 18th 1914. With the 8th Infantry Battalion, he embarked aboard the Benalla on October 19th. He was wounded in action at the Gallipoli landing on April 25th 1915 suffering a shrapnel wound to the thigh. He was evacuated to Egypt and did not return to Gallipoli. He rejoined his unit in France where, on August 18th 1916, he suffered severe wounds to his throat, shoulder and arm. This led to extended periods in hospital in England before he was returned to Australia. He departed England aboard the Euripides on July 21st 1917, disembarked at Melbourne on August 15th and was discharged medically unfit on November 16th 1917 after 1064 days service abroad.
