Hiram Rutherford was born in Sunbury, but enlisted from Alfredton on 16th July 1915. He was a civil servant, 20 years old and single. He was posted to the 46th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 3885. On the 11th April 1917 he was killed during the fighting at Bullecourt. His name is on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
