Born in Ballarat, Lily Mackenzie was a single 33 year old nurse at the time of her enlistment on the 5th of October 1915. Her unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A67 Orsova on the 12th of November 1915.
On the 1st of October 1918, Lily was promoted Sister.
On the 1st of January 1919, Lily was awarded the Royal Red Cross Decoration.
She returned to Australia on the 28th of November 1919 and her appointment was terminated on the 17th of February 1920.
