Biography

Annie Ellen Shadforth was born in Blakefield, Victoria and living on Eureka Street, Ballarat and was already serving as a Nurse when she enlisted with the No 1 Australian General Hospital on 25 June 1915 at the age of 27. Her unit embarked from Fremantle, Western Australia, on board A62 Wandilla on 25 June 1915. She served with the Australian Army Nurses Service and was promoted to Sister on 21 May 1918 whilst in France. She returned to Australia on 23 July 1919 and was discharged friom service on 28 December 1919.
