Biography

Nelila Leitch (Sister) born at Cobden, was 30 when she joined the Australian Army Nursing Service on August 16th 1916. A week later she embarked aboard the Mooltan and sailed to Bombay, India, where she commenced service at the Victoria War Hospital. She had several other postings before being recalled to England at war’s end. She returned to Australia on transport duty aboard the Plassy, disembarked at Melbourne on April 20th 1919 and her position was terminated on June 22nd.
