Emily Ethel May Knight (Sister) was a 35 year old nurse at the Ballarat Hospital when she enlisted in the Australian Army Nursing Service on November 9th 1917. She embarked a week later aboard the Indarra and sailed to Bombay where she commenced her service at the Victoria War Hospital. During her time in India, she served at three other hospitals before she finally returned to Australia aboard the Medic. She disembarked at Melbourne on December 27th 1919 and was discharged ‘medically unfit, right knee joint’ on August 23rd 1920.
