Biography

Thomas Kelly, born in Dean, Victoria, enlisted in the 8th Infantry Battalion in Ballarat on 18 August 1914. On 19 September 1915 Kelly fell ill, resulting in hospitalization until 9 November 1915 upon when he re-joined his battalion. On 19 January 1917 Kelly received a promotion to Temporary Corporal and to Full Corporal on 9 February 1917. After being sent to Signal School, Corporal Kelly was transferred to an administrative position in London for employment on transport duties to Australia.
