Biography

Born in Ballarat, Roy Maxwell Lockett was a single 18 year old grocer at the time of his enlistment in his hometown on the 12th of July 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A1 Hymettus on the 27th of January 1916.
On the 2nd of April 1916 he was appointed Gunner. He was then promoted to Corporal on the 1st of December 1916.
On the 4th of June 1917 he was promoted to Sergeant.
Roy returned to Australia on the 2nd of July 1919 and was discharged due to the termination of his enlistment period on the 25th of August 1919.
