Biography

Stanley Herbert Lockett (SN 2200) born in Ballarat, was a 24 year old clerk when he enlisted in Ballarat on August 18th 1915. He trained with the Light Horse before embarking on April 7th 1917 aboard the Barunga and sailing to Egypt where he joined the 8th Light Horse Regiment. His service had several interruptions due to illness and on October 31st 1917 he suffered a back injury when he was thrown from a horse. This injury then a bout of pneumonia saw him returned to Australia aboard the Ulysses and he was discharged medically unfit on April 30th 1918.

His brother Roy also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
