Herbert Victor Burnett (SN 14025) born at Illabarook, was a married 24 year old butcher when he enlisted on July 9th 1915. Assigned to the Australian Medical Corps he embarked from Sydney aboard the Medic on May 31st 1916. He served in France predominantly at the 3rd Australian Casualty Clearing Station avoiding serious illness or injury. At war’s end he returned to Australia as a member of the nursing staff aboard the Borda. He disembarked on June 27th 1919 and was discharged on August 11th. He also enlisted to serve during WW2 with service number V81066.
His brothers Ernest and Harold also served in the AIF and are honoured with trees in the Avenue.
