Biography

Percy Edgar Coltman (SN 349) was born in Ballarat and educated at Grenville College but was manager of an engineering works in Sydney when he first enlisted, on 17th October 1914. He may have understated his age when he enlisted. He left Melbourne in May 1915 on board the Ulysses. He was killed in action at Pozieres, France, on August 5th 1916 while serving with the 22nd Battalion. He was 44 years of age. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Australian National Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux, France.

His brother Stanley also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
