Henry (Harry) Brew (SN 7366) born at Sale, declared himself to be an 18 year old bricklayer when he first joined the Royal Navy in 1909. On January 1st 1913, as a Ballarat resident, he joined the Royal Australian Navy and served as a signalman predominantly aboard the Cerberus and the Melbourne until he was discharged medically unfit in April 1918.
His Father Henry and his brother William also served in the AIF are honoured with trees in the Avenue.
Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as Harry Brew.
