LesIie George Hunter was born in Ballarat and was a Bricklayer by trade when he enlisted in the 24th Battalion, A Company on 17 March 1915 at the age of 19. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A14 Euripides on 10 May 1915. He sailed to Egypt with the 24th Battalion, but later that year was returned to Australia for medical discharge. He was discharged on February 10th 1916.
