Leslie George Hunter (SN 209) born in Ballarat, was a 19 year old bricklayer when he enlisted in Ballarat on March 17th 1915. Assigned to the 24th Infantry Battalion he embarked aboard the Euripides on May 10th and sailed to Egypt. It seems that his health then went into decline and he was returned to Australia aboard the Ulysses and was discharged medically unfit on February 10th 1916.
His brother Alfred also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
