Albert John Orr was born in Ballarat and enlisted from Ballarat South on 7th July 1915. He was 24 years old, unmarried and a carpenter. He was sent to the 2nd Field Company Engineers, with Regimental No. 5657. Later he was transferred to the 5th Pioneer Battalion. On 26th October 1917 he died of wounds received during the fighting at Passchendaele. He is buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium.
