Charles Edward Gunn (SN 858) was a carpenter, born and living in Sebastopol , when he enlisted on the January 5th 1915. He was 22 years old and single. He was sent to the 21st Infantry Battalion and sailed from Australia in May and undertook further training in Egypt. On the voyage from Egypt to Gallipoli his troopship, HMAT Southland was torpedoed on Sept 2nd 1915 and Private Gunn was drowned. He is buried at East Mudros Military Cemetery on Lemnos, Greece.
