Biography

Charles Edward Gunn was a carpenter, born and living in Sebastapol , when he enlisted on the 5th January 1915. He was 22 years old and single. He was sent to the 21st Infantry Battalion , with Regimental No. 858. During his training he was promoted to Corporal. On the voyage from Egypt to Gallipoli as a re-enforcement his troopship, HMAT Southland was torpedoed and Private Gunn was drowned. He is buried at East Mudros Military Cemetery, Greece.
