Frederick Edmund Ratclliffe was born in Charlton East and enlisted on 14th July 1915 from Ballarat East. He was a driver, aged 33 and married. He was allocated to the 59th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 4570. On 19th July 1916 he was killed in the fighting at Fromelles, and is buried in the Rue-du-Bois Military Cemetery, France.
