Born in Ballarat, Charles Robert McGregor was a single 30 year old clerk at the time of his enlistment in Seymour, Victoria on the 30th of September 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT SS Hawkes Bay on the 26th of October 1915.
Charles returned to Australia on the 24th of September 1916, and was discharged as medically unfit on the 1st of November 1916.
Charles enlisted for a second time on the 1st of October 1917. From then until his discharge on the 30th of December 1918, he was ranked as Corporal.
