Born in Ballarat, Richard Lawrence Griffin was a single 18 year old miner at the time of his enlistment on the 23rd of July 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A64 Demosthenes on the 29th of December 1915.
He returned to Australia on the 15th of May 1919 and was discharged due to the termination of his enlistment period on the 6th of July 1919.
