Biography

Born in Ballarat, Leslie Griffin was a single 18 year old trapper at the time of his enlistment in Leongatha on the 18th of March 1916. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A28 Miltiades on the 1st of August 1916.
On February 5th 1917 he was wounded in action with gunshot wounds to his arm, leg and face.
He was taken on strength with the 66th battalion from the 14th battalion on the 28th of April 1917.
On October 15th 1917 he was wounded in action on a second occasion after being gassed. He rejoined his unit on the 13th of November 1917.
Leslie returned to Australia on the 18th of September 1919 and was discharged due to the termination of his enlistment period on the 3rd of October 1919.
