Biography

Charles Hasting Hare (SN 2266) was born in Ballarat where he attended the Macarthur Street State School. As a 27 year old horse driver he enlisted on July 19th 1915 and was posted to the 23rd Infantry Battalion. He sailed from Australia on board the Hororata in late September, first to Egypt and then to France. He was seriously wounded at Bullecourt and died on May 3rd 1917. He is buried in Grevillers British Cemetery, France.
