Biography

Ernest Pollard was born in Allendale, VIC and was a Wheelwright living on Howitt Street, Ballarat when he enlisted in the 29th Battalion, D Company on 26 July 1915 at the age of 24. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A11 Ascanius on 10 November 1915. On 27 September 1917 he was wounded in action and evacuated to the 39th General Hospital, where he remained in recovery until he was able to re-join his unit on 5 December. He returned to Australia aboard the Orita on 23 June 1919.
