Biography

Frank Clark (SN 2586A) born at Dean, was a 20 year old plumber when he joined his brother Ernest in enlisting at Ballarat on July 27th 1915. Assigned to the 24th Infantry Battalion he embarked aboard the Ulysses on October 27th and sailed to Egypt where he was transferred to the 58th Battalion. He moved to France in June 1916 and in August he was accused, but found not guilty, of carelessly wounding a comrade. On September 6th 1918 he suffered a severe gunshot wound to his left thigh and was evacuated to hospital in England. He was returned to Australia on the Orontes, disembarked at Melbourne on January 20th 1919 and was discharged March 16th.

His brother Ernest also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
