William Stanley Booth (SN 3251) was born in Ballarat and attended the Macarthur Street State School. He was a 24-year-old steward when he enlisted on August 15th 1915. He left Australia aboard the Euripides on November 2nd and sailed to Egypt where he joined the 53rd Battalion. He reached France in June 1916 and in July he was listed as missing in action in the tragic charge at Fromelles. It was not until September 1917 that a Court of Enquiry deemed William Booth killed in action on July 19th 1916. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Memorial Wall at VC Corner Cemetery, near Fromelles, and on the honour board at Macarthur Street State School. He was 24 years of age.
